Later examination found that the skull of Australopithecus robustus specimen SK 847 fitted the upper jaw associated with Telanthropus, creating a composite anatomical picture that supported the reassignment while also illustrating the uncertainties of fossil interpretation.

At Olduvai, Hominid 13 is described as having a smaller dental apparatus and lower jaw than Homo habilis, while Hominid 16 had a prominent brow ridge.
